Although this is mainly a blog dealing with information for online marketers and those that want to be, I want to take this opportunity to tell you about an amazing group of young ladies from the small village of Cobden, Illinois (POP. 1,200) who recently won the Illinois Class 1A State Softball Championship for the second year in a row in a grueling 19 inning marathon.
The final score…. 1 to 0
The game was a rematch of the same teams that made it to the championship game last year, which Cobden won 5 to 2 in 11 innings.
This team, the girls (and their coaches) who worked so hard to achieve this rare feat, will become legends in this small community, as did their basketball predecessors, the 1964 Appleknocker boys basketball team which finished second in the Illinois State Tournament, before there was a class system.
A state title for a school of this size is a remarkable thing, but back to back state titles…under two different head coaches, now that is some legendary stuff.
